The university envisions having socially aware, eco-sensitive, and high-performing educators that aid in building progressive and peaceful communities. Because of that it gives significance to community action and research. Â Projects vary from addressing carbon footprints from mobile phone use, to developing sustainable environmental models for island countries, and spearheading initiatives like Eco-Kaptens (Eco-Knowledge, Attitude and Pedagogy in Teaching Environmental Science).
Other than that, the institution also established commitment to non-academic activities, namely, the CNU VSMMC COM Green Initiative (SDG12, 13) focusing on reusable water and food containers, water conservation, energy conservation; the Christmas Tree Making Contest by Tourism Students using recycled and biodegradable materials; and a tree planting event organized by the HRMO in 2019.
