In a night filled with excitement and creativity, Cebu Normal University’s Bachelor of Arts in Communication major in Film Media students showcased their talent at the Sinulog Short Film Festival held at Robinson’s Galleria Cebu Cinema on April 13, 2024.

The festival recognized the students’ film “Pagtindak” as one of the top 8 finalists and awarded it the Best Poster award. The film, produced by Third-year BA Comm-Film Media students under Good Sheep Film, revolves around the theme of familial reconciliation amidst life’s hectic pace. Reynaldo Lucero’s outstanding portrayal of the role of Erning, a fictional character embodying Señor Sto. Niño, earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

The festival director, Marlon Douglas Hofer, in collaboration with Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama, provided a platform for Cebuano creatives to showcase their storytelling prowess on a larger stage. This recognition underscores the talent and dedication of CNU’s emerging filmmakers, who continue to push the boundaries of storytelling through film media.

The festival’s success reflects the vision of its director and the support of the local government. It also highlights the potential of Cebuano creatives, who are poised to make their mark in the film industry. The festival serves as a reminder that the power of storytelling knows no boundaries, and it is through events like this that emerging filmmakers can showcase their talent to the world.
