The Cebu Normal University–Balamban Campus, through its Extension Services Office and the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management Program, successfully conducted the Monitoring and Evaluation of the Mt. Manunggal Nature Trek and Tours (Phase 1) Extension Project in Brgy. Sunog, Balamban, Cebu. The activity gathered project beneficiaries, local stakeholders, and the project team to assess the implementation, accomplishments, and impact of the project on community-based tourism development and local livelihood.

During the activity, beneficiaries shared their experiences and highlighted how the training enhanced their competencies in tour guiding, customer service, workplace safety, first aid, and sustainable tourism practices. The evaluation also revealed that many participants have become active local tour guides, generating additional income while promoting the natural, historical, and cultural heritage of Mt. Manunggal. Stakeholders likewise provided valuable recommendations to further strengthen the project through continuous capacity-building, improved tourism infrastructure, and stronger collaboration among partner agencies.

The monitoring and evaluation affirmed that the project has made a meaningful contribution to empowering the local community and advancing sustainable tourism in Balamban. Guided by the University’s commitment to excellence in extension services, CNU remains dedicated to working hand in hand with its partner communities in creating innovative, inclusive, and sustainable tourism initiatives that improve lives and preserve local heritage.

Padayon, CNU!
