LOOK | Cebu Normal University (CNU) and the Municipality of Argao conducted a dialogue earlier this morning to strengthen and finalize plans for the establishment of CNU Argao. The dialogue was held at the Municipal Hall of Argao presided by Vice Mayor Orni G. Ortega.
Dr. Daniel A. Ariaso Sr., the University President, also provided an overview of the various roles of the two parties as stipulated in the agreement, particularly on educational and manpower resources, policy formulation, and finances, among other aspects.
It can be recalled that CNU and Argao signed the Memorandum of Agreement on March 4, 2024, in an effort to bring quality higher education closer to the students. With the agreement between CNU and LGU Argao finally forged, Municipal Mayor Allan Sesaldo, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of investing in higher education. He shared that, “if we need to invest, we need to invest in something where we can benefit the most, and that is through education.”
Meanwhile, the President of the PTA Federation of Argao, Archt. Ernie Gelbolingo, also expressed his optimism regarding the soon-to-be-established CNU Argao. He mentioned that his child, along with other students, would no longer have to travel to the city for education. Arch. Gelbolingo also expressed his support for expediting the establishment of CNU-Argao, as many young students from Argao aspire to study at CNU.
The recently concluded dialogue marks a step forward in presenting the plan to the members of the Sandiganbayan for further deliberations.
Also present at the dialogue were CNU’s administrative officials and unit heads, Municipality of Argao Sangguniang Bayan members, and key representatives and officials from different associations and federations in the municipality.
All hail, crimson and gold!
