Cebu Normal University (CNU) proudly announces the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Cebu City Local Government for the implementation of the “Tara, Basa!” Tutoring Program. The ceremony, held at Cebu City Hall, marks a significant milestone in the collaborative efforts to address the pressing challenge of reading literacy among children in diverse barangays and communities throughout the city.
On his message of support during the MOA signing, Dr. Daniel A. Ariaso, the University President reaffirms its commitment to educational excellence and community engagement. Dr. Ariaso also emphasized the integration of the “Tara, Basa!” initiative into the university’s Research and Development empowerment program, ensuring its long-term sustainability and profound impact on local communities.

As the sole provider of tutors for the program, Cebu Normal University pledges to deploy its exceptional teaching talent to ensure the success of “Tara, Basa!” Efforts to exhaust all available resources, particularly in manpower, underscore CNU’s dedication to realizing the program’s goals and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.
Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama, along with esteemed dignitaries including DSWD Region VII Regional Director, Dir. Shalaine Marie S. Lucero, CESO IV, DSWD Undersecretary for Innovations, USEC Eduardo M. Punay, and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, were among the prominent leaders and representatives who graced the MOA signing ceremony.
