On October 24, 2025, the extension project titled “Mosquito Eradication for Dengue Defense: Policy and Strategies in Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu” was conducted at Buanoy, Balamban, Cebu. The activity was led by project leader Dr. Milagros Greif, with the support of project members Dr. Pedro Gutierrez Jr., Dr. Stella Therese R. Avila, Mrs. Joezen D. Corrales, Ms. Mirasol A. Montano, Mrs. Nimfa R. Pansit, Mrs. Mary Grace G. Villaflor, Dr. Elena B. Lozano, and Prof. Eric Remoroza.
During the activity, the beneficiaries demonstrated an increased awareness of dengue mosquito breeding sites, successfully identifying common household and community containers, natural water-holding items, and stagnant bodies of water as key habitats where larvae were observed in several areas. As frontline barangay health workers, they showed strong interest in reinforcing effective dengue prevention practices, particularly the use of biological control methods such as Gambusia fish, which promote an integrated and environmentally friendly approach to mosquito population control and dengue prevention.
