The extension activity, “Teaching the Whole Child: Integrating Differentiation, Socio-Emotional Learning, and Values in Today’s Classroom,” was a focused capacity-building webinar held on October 17, 2025, for the instructional leaders and teachers of DST schools in Cebu Province. The event’s Theme, “Teaching with Compassion and Faith: Forming the Whole Child through Love, Understanding, and Service,” clearly positioned the training around a holistic, values-based approach to education.
The session was designed to equip teachers with practical skills to integrate three essential components for student development: Differentiation: Strategies for tailoring instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of all learners. Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL): Techniques to nurture students’ emotional intelligence, well-being, and social skills. Values Integration: Methods for embedding ethical and moral values into daily lessons and classroom culture. The expertise for the program was provided by faculty from the College of Teacher Education, specifically Dr. Imelda C. Montalbo, Dr. Charlo M. Iradel, and Dr. Maria Nancy Quinco-Cadosales, emphasizing the academic and practical rigor of the training content. In essence, the webinar was a specialized training focused on empowering teachers to move beyond academics and consciously shape students’ hearts and characters through empathetic, individualized, and values-driven teaching.
