On May 31, 2024, a significant meeting took place between representatives from Jeju Tourism University (JTU) and Cebu Normal University (CNU). The exchange aimed to explore potential collaborations in cultural endeavors between the two institutions.

The President of Jeju Tourism University, Kim Sung Kyu, expressed a keen interest in pursuing student exchange programs as well as short-term cultural programs. The meeting also delved into the challenges and opportunities of the collaboration, including the different academic calendars, admission procedures, fees, VISA requirements, as well as accommodation.

Jeju Tourism University initially corresponded through Cebu International Academy, CNU’s partner-school. JTU is Korea’s first specialized university for tourism. Nevertheless, it offers a diverse range of academic programs including Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Social Welfare, Hotel Culinary Arts, Hotel Tourism, and Airlines Services, which are exciting matches for CNU.

CNU continues to strive in its cooperative efforts for strategic internationalization with international partners. Both institutions expressed enthusiasm for fostering a deeper understanding of each other’s culture and creating opportunities for students and faculty to engage in meaningful exchanges.

CNU, headed by President Daniel Ariaso, Sr., were greeted by Dr. Janet Mananay, Officer-in-Charge of the Office for Internationalization, Dr. Joseph Sol Galleon, Officer-in-Charge of the External Affairs and Partnerships Office, and Ms. Clareziel Ladringan, Chair of the Tourism Department.
