The Active Aging: Physical and Recreational Activities for Older Persons project was implemented in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City to address the challenges faced by older adults, including physical decline, social isolation, and limited opportunities for meaningful engagement. Cebu Normal University, through its extension mandate under Republic Act No. 8688 and guided by CHED Memorandum Order No. 52, s. 2016, carried out structured interventions such as Zumba, experiential sharing, storytelling, and arts and crafts with Christmas themes. These activities promoted physical vitality, creative expression, and cultural enrichment while fostering social inclusion and intergenerational connection. The project affirmed the dignity of older persons and strengthened CNU’s role as a catalyst for community development and transformative extension services.

This extension project aimed to:

1.       Promote physical health and vitality among older persons through structured low‑impact exercises such as Zumba.

2.       Enhance psychosocial well‑being and community participation by facilitating experiential sharing and storytelling sessions that fostered social inclusion and intergenerational connection.

3.       Encourage creativity and cultural enrichment through arts and crafts activities themed around Christmas, affirming the dignity and active role of older adults in community life.

4.       Strengthen institutional and community partnerships by aligning CNU’s extension services with barangay and OSCA initiatives, ensuring responsive and sustainable support for older persons.
