To ensure efficient and responsive transactions across Cebu Normal University (CNU) offices, the university’s Quality Assurance Unit convened all stakeholders for a virtual forum today, May 26.
Attended by administrative officials, faculty members, and employees across campuses, the forum tackled practices, opportunities, and challenges for improvement, as well as institutional initiatives to advance quality service to stakeholders and streamline processes.
The forum covered a series of sessions, including cost-saving measures in the university’s supply office, best practices in water and energy conservation, and standardized processes across offices and campuses.
CNU President Dr. Laurence Garcia underscored in his speech the importance of Ease of Doing Business (EODB) as a constitutional mandate to ensure efficient and responsive public services.
As an academic institution, Garcia emphasized the importance of standardized processes “toward a more productive Bagong Pilipinas” and to “continuously build systems that are honest, efficient, and centered on genuine public service.”
Amid operational challenges, Garcia also emphasized the importance of respect in various forms.
“The heart of doing business is respect — respect for people’s time, respect for processes, respect for accountability, and respect for the trust that people place in our institution,” he said.
Moreover, Vice President for Administration Atty. Roche Ocampo, in her opening remarks, called on all stakeholders to continue collaborating and engaging in open dialogue, as the university “aims to identify opportunities for improvement, streamline processes, and ensure that programs and services remain responsive.”
Emphasizing the importance of collaboration, Atty. Ocampo said that today’s forum aims to “foster cooperation, innovation, and actionable outcomes that would contribute to the continuous growth and development of our university.”
The forum on Ease of Doing Business is part of the month-long celebration of EODB Month under Republic Act No. 11032, the law that mandates the simplification of government requirements and procedures to improve public service delivery.
