Cebu Normal University is eyeing to partner with O.P. Jindal Global University, a private institution in India.
JGU is recognized as an “Institution of Eminence” by India’s Ministry of Education and is renowned for its strong focus on social sciences, arts, and humanities.
With the eyed partnership, CNU held an exploratory meeting with the university at the Office for Internationalization this morning.
The link with JGU was facilitated by the Commission on Higher Education-7, which introduced Dr. Rahul Bhandari, joint director and head of the Office of Institutional Advancement and Strategic Global Engagement at JGU.
Leading the meeting was Dr. Janet Mananay, CNU’s director for Internationalization, along with Dr. Lelani Dapat, director of the Research and Development, and Publications Office; Dr. Roselle Jardin, OIC of the Dean’s Office of the College of Public Governance and Safety (CPGS); and Professors Louiechi Von Mendoza, James Louies Un, and Leigh Anne Fernandez.
The meeting opened with a presentation of CNU’s promotional video, followed by Dr. Bhandari’s presentation on JGU’s history, internationalization efforts, and future plans, which included a video showcasing JGU students.
Dr. Bhandari proposed four promising initiatives to foster collaboration between JGU and CNU. First, the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship, which invites international researchers to network with peers and collaborate with JGU faculty.
The fellowship aims for the publication of SCOPUS-indexed research articles, fostering new research collaborations.
The second proposal was Dr. Bhandari’s extended invitation to Prof. Un and CNU’s Psychology Department to participate in the upcoming World Conference on Criminology, while the third proposal involves co-developing a short-term program for Indian students in partnership with CNU, which will include project development and other engaging activities.
Lastly, Dr. Bhandari proposed a collaborative effort between JGU and CNU in the upcoming QS World University Rankings survey, aiming to bolster each institution’s global standing.
These proposals represent exciting opportunities for CNU to expand its international partnerships and further its global reputation.–/KQD
