The university envisions having socially aware, eco-sensitive, and high-performing educators that aid in building progressive and peaceful communities. Because of that it gives significance to community action and research.   Projects vary from addressing carbon footprints from mobile phone use, to developing sustainable environmental models for island countries, and spearheading initiatives like Eco-Kaptens (Eco-Knowledge, Attitude and Pedagogy in Teaching Environmental Science).

Other than that, the institution also established commitment to non-academic activities, namely, the CNU VSMMC COM Green Initiative (SDG12, 13) focusing on reusable water and food containers, water conservation, energy conservation; the Christmas Tree Making Contest by Tourism Students using recycled and biodegradable materials; and a tree planting event organized by the HRMO in 2019.
