The Cebu Normal University (CNU) Chorale has achieved remarkable success at the 13th Bali International Choir Festival (BICF), marking their first international competition with a series of outstanding performances that garnered multiple prestigious awards.

The chorale’s dedication and hard work culminated in a stellar showcase that impressed both the judges and the audience. Their exceptional performance in the Pop and Jazz Category earned them the top spot in the elimination round with a Gold Medal IV and a trophy. This paved their way to clinching the championship title in the final round of this category. The group’s choreography also stood out, earning them the award for Outstanding Choreography. In addition, Sean Andrex Martinez was named as the Outstanding Pop Soloist, further highlighting the individual talent within the group.

The CNU Chorale’s prowess extended beyond the Pop and Jazz Category. They also excelled in the Folk Category, securing a Gold Medal VI in the Folk category elimination round.

These series of awards afforded them a spot to the Grand Prix, a significant recognition that placed them among the best choirs in the competition. There, they made history by winning the first-ever Conductors’ Choice Award in the BICF, received by their talented adviser and conductor, Ms. Darlane Yap.

The Director for Cultural and Sports Development Dr. Lito Diones shared that to compete internationally is “a dream come true” for the group, which was made more special with all the awards they won.
