The Comprehensive Psychosocial Health Program for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and Jail Officers: Medical Consultation and Psychosocial Wellness Intervention was conducted by the College of Medicine and the Department of Psychology of Cebu Normal University (CNU) in partnership with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) – Naga City Jail on June 25, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The program was led by Dr. Ma. Rosita Ampoyas-Hernani, together with faculty and personnel from the College of Medicine, Psychology Department, CCAS–Kinesthetics Department, and College of Nursing, through the support of the CNU Extension Services.
The activity was designed to provide accessible medical and psychosocial services to PDLs and BJMP personnel through medical consultations, health assessments, psychosocial interventions, counseling, and mental health education. By bringing together professionals from different disciplines, the program addressed the participants’ physical, psychological, and emotional needs in a more comprehensive and holistic manner.
The initiative emphasized the importance of preventive healthcare, mental health promotion, and psychosocial support in improving the overall well-being of PDLs and jail officers. Through these interventions, the program contributed to promoting healthier lifestyles, strengthening emotional and psychological resilience, and supporting the rehabilitation and welfare of PDLs. The activity also demonstrated CNU’s continued commitment to providing meaningful extension services and strengthening partnerships with government institutions such as BJMP.
Aligned with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, and SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, the program served as a concrete expression of CNU’s commitment to inclusive healthcare, equal access to support services, and the promotion of humane and rehabilitative approaches within correctional institutions.
Padayon, CNU!
