June 27, 2025 | CNU Balamban Guides Nangka Community in Turning Measurements into Meaningful Patterns
Today marked another productive and inspiring day for the Teach Me How to Fish – Sewing extension project of Cebu Normal University – Balamban Campus, as community participants advanced further in their sewing journey by learning the fundamental skill of pattern making.
Building on last week’s session on accurate measurement, today’s training focused on the art and science of translating numbers into paper patterns—a crucial step in crafting customized and well-fitted seat covers. With the guidance of dedicated CNU-Balamban faculty and the assistance of Kalahi beneficiaries, the participants were introduced to the proper use of rulers, tailor’s tapes, and other essential drafting tools.
From tracing clean outlines to carefully marking seam allowances and cutting lines, participants developed not only their technical skills but also their confidence. For many, this was a first encounter with pattern drafting, and it was nothing short of transformative. What once seemed like abstract numbers were now taking shape as tangible designs, bringing each learner one step closer to producing their very own seat covers.
The training hall was alive with energy filled with focused hands, thoughtful discussions, and moments of discovery. As each participant proudly completed their first full pattern, a collective sense of achievement and empowerment spread across the room. It was a beautiful reflection of what community-based learning and patient mentoring can truly accomplish.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to the officials of Barangay Nangka, Balamban, Cebu for their unwavering support and for graciously providing the Barangay Hall as our training venue. Special thanks to:
