Cebu Normal University (CNU) inks Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Municipality of Alegria on March 14, 2024 for the establishment of new CNU campus in the town. The establishment of CNU-Alegria serves as a cornerstone of breaking barriers in terms of distance and socio-economic conditions as quality tertiary education is already within the students reach.
During the MOA signing, Hon. Gilberto F. Magallon, Alegria Municipal mayor expressed his gratitude to CNU considering that the establishment of the new campus will not just benefit the students from Alegria but also to students in nearby municipalities.
Mayor Magallon shared, “Students and their families could save for their accommodation, transportation, and they will have with them their family everyday.”
Meanwhile, University President Dr. Daniel Ariaso assured Alegria that CNU will give its full commitment to the initiative especially on the programs that the new campus will offer.
Furthermore, Dr. Ma. Rosita A. Hernani, Director for Research and Development and Publications (RDP) shared that accessibility to quality higher education, promotion of local culture, addressing skills gaps, community engagement, and research and innovation are the objectives in bringing CNU to Alegria.
The MOA signing was attended by Congressman Peter John Calderon together with the stakeholders and local officials from Alegria and neighboring municipalities of Ginatilan, Malabuyoc, Badian, Alegria, and Moalboal together with the different school heads from the department of Education.
Also present in the MOA signing was Dr. Joseph Elvir Tubilan, VP for Administration, Finance and External Affairs, Atty. Lury Ed Marie Viray, Director for Legał Unit and Dean of the College of Law, Public Governance and Safety, Dr. Joseph Sol Galleon, Officer-in-Charge for External Affairs and Partnerships, and Dr. Lelani Dapat, Director for Information and FM Station Unit.
The soon-to-open CNU Alegria will be the fourth external campus after Medellin, Balamban, and Argao.
