LOOK | Guidance counseling topnotcher gets P70T cash aid; applauds CNU for ‘great’ program
August 2025 Guidance Counselors Computer-Based Licensure Examinations second placer, Darius Kenny Abarca Sasan, received ₱70,000 in cash incentives from Cebu Normal University (CNU) during the flag-raising ceremony this morning.
Sasan, accompanied by his parents and siblings, expressed his gratitude to CNU for the quality education “without breaking the wallet.”
He also said that CNU made it easy for him to dream big as it is an institution “that inspires you to become more than who you are now.”
He added that CNU has a great Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling (MAGC) program, a requisite for the board exams.
He was one of the 15 Normalites who took the licensure examinations and was the lone topnotcher from CNU.
Sasan, a graduate of the MAGC program, placed second in the August 2025 Guidance Counselors Computer-Based Licensure Examinations. He garnered 88.5%, the second top scorer among the 496 passers out of the 774 examinees who took the licensure examinations conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission on August 6–7.
CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso Sr., in a speech today, congratulated Sasan for being the epitome of the CNU brand of excellence.
He also urged other passers to serve the public.
“What we would like to emphasize here—This is the first time we got more than what we used to have—15 of them. This is a huge contribution to the government because you will be deployed where you are needed most. Remember, do not forget to serve the public,” Ariaso said.
The recent results are also historic for CNU as this is the first time the university clinched a 100% passing rate for RGC.
A motorcade from CNU to Sasan’s residence in Talamban will happen at 1 PM today, and a press conference will be conducted on August 18.
The CNU president announced that the motorcade will now include 2nd placers of licensure exams and not just the first placers to honor their achievements.
