The Cebu Normal University (CNU) Chorale has once again solidified its global presence after winning 3rd place and bagging teo gold diplomas in the 21st Busan International Choral Festival and Competition held in Busan, South Korea, from October 30 to November 2, 2025.

Joined by 55 other choir ensembles from across the globe, including Indonesia, China, South Korea and Japan, the CNU Chorale clinched its second international award after winning prestigious honors during the 13th Bali International Choir Festival last year.

It placed 3rd in the Ethnic Category and it earned two gold diplomas for its outstanding performance in the Pop and Acapella Category and Ethnic/Traditional Music Category.

The CNU delegation was composed of 17 Chorale student members and 11 alumni, under the baton of Prof. Darlane Yap and with the artistic guidance of voice coach Ritchie Asibal.

The ensemble delivered powerful and compelling performances that earned the admiration of both the audience and the international panel of judges.

The group’s remarkable win solidified CNU’s growing reputation at the international level and within the global choral community. It also reinforced the university’s mission to bring Filipino artistry to the international stage.

This achievement stood as a testament to the hard work, discipline, and passion of the students and alumni who continue to raise the CNU banner with pride.

The delegation was also joined by Dr. Janet Mananay, Vice President for Special Needs, Early Childhood Education, Internationalization, and Lifelong Learning (SNECEILL), along with Prof. Flora Mae Rivera, faculty member of the College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence Studies (CCAIS), and Engr. Arthuro Yap.

This achievement not only elevates CNU’s name in the performing arts, but also shines a spotlight on Filipino musical excellence—truly making the nation proud.

Padayon, CNU!
