LOOK | Cinnamon commercialization deal eyed
Cebu Normal University’s CNUmon Team is looking into partnering with LAMAC Multipurpose Cooperative for the possible commercialization of cinnamon-based products.
Both parties are exploring opportunities for market-driven innovations, sustainable value chains, and community-based enterprise development centered on cinnamon as a high-value local resource.
CNU’s cinnamon project is under the NEDA-funded project “From Farm to Market: Co-creating the Cinnamon Industry in Cebu, Philippines.”
Present during yesterday’s exploratory meeting at the CNU RITBPB Office were Dr. Jay Picardal, RITBPB director and PH Cinnamon Research, Development and Innovation Project leader; Dr. Marchee Picardal, science communication arm and CNU Balamban dean; Dr. Jollibee Aharul, Innovation, Intellectual Property and Commercialization director; Dr. Marjorie Sta. Teresa, Income-Generating Projects director; Dr. Genara Pacaña, Research Development and Publication director; and John Rey Ybañez, CNU faculty member and the meeting facilitator.
The meeting was also graced by LAMAC MPC representatives Demetrio Repollo, Agri Services Department operations manager; Winona Nadora Pagaling, Business Development Center specialist; Jovita Empinado, Cacao Hub division manager; Arnold Lucero, Dairy Hub Division manager; Lorenzo Caballero, Agri staff; and Mark Edcille Canda, BDC (Research, Linkages, and Partnerships) Division manager.
