Dr. Rowena C. Largo

Dr. Rowena C. Largo is a Professor VI and currently serves as the Director of the Institute for Research in Filipino Studies at Cebu Normal University. She has previously held the position of Chair of the Department of Filipino. Dr. Largo teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and advises students who are writing theses and dissertations. Additionally, she works as a reviewer for the Licensure Examination for Teachers at various renowned review centers in Cebu. She is a trainer for the K-12 Curriculum in Region 7. Dr. Largo has co-authored several books for Secondary Grades 7-10 and colleges, including “Fil.1 Communication in Academic Filipino,” “Fil.2 Reading and Writing for Research,” and “Fil.3 Rhetoric and Introduction to Linguistics (Specialization).” 

Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including Outstanding Research Adviser, Outstanding Educator, Outstanding Teacher of the Year, Outstanding Researcher of the Year, Writer of the Year, Most Outstanding Innovative Educator, and Outstanding Educator in Filipino Language. She was also named one of the Ulirang Guro. She graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education in Filipino, a Master of Arts in Filipino Language Teaching, and a Doctor of Education in Filipino Language Teaching from Cebu Normal University, where she was also awarded Best Dissertation. Furthermore, Dr. Largo is an accomplished speaker at seminars, a translator, and a researcher, having published various studies on language and literature in Asian Citation Indexes and international refereed journals.
