Corazon A. Prejoles, Ed.D., D.A., J.D.

Corazon A. Prejoles, Ed.D., D.A., J.D., is the Editor-in-Chief of Panukiduki Journal and a Professor III at the College of Culture, Arts, and Sports of  Cebu Normal University Main Campus, in Cebu City, Philippines, where she has taught for over 24 years now. Holding a Juris Doctor degree (2019) and doctorates in Literature and Communication (2011) and English Language Teaching (2001), she has also served CNU in various capacities such as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from November 2008 to May 2010, University Public Information Officer from 2010 to 2011, Associate Dean of the School of the Arts from 2005 to 2008, Research Coordinator, from 2004 to 2005, and Chair of the former English Studies and Other Languages Department from 2003 to 2004. She obtained her Master of Arts in Education in Teaching English as a Second Language at the Cebu State College (now CNU) in 1997,  and her Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts major in both Journalism and Broadcasting from the University of the Philippines College Cebu (UPCC) in 1983. A seasoned media practitioner specializing  in broadcasting, before entering the academe, she has worked as newscaster, disc jockey,  English and Cebuano-Visayan program handler in both DYWF-Smash FM and DYLA-AM Radio Stations in Cebu City. She passed the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas Accreditation in 1984 where she got the topmost score of 95%;  also passed the  Licensure Examinations for Teachers in 1992;  the Civil Service Eligibility  in 1995; and the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC).  She has judged prestigious journalism, writing, and speech competitions as well as during the Cebu Archdiocesan Mass Media Awards  and the Globe  Media Excellence Awards. As a former member of the Toastmasters International (TI) with the rank of Able Toastmaster, she shares her communication skills to her graduate and undergraduate students and has joined in the TI  club, area, and division speech competitions. She once received the award as the impromptu speaking  champion in the national speech competition of the Speech Organization of the Philippines or SCOP.  As a Faculty of CNU she is passionate about education, research, and extension work. She has led community extension projects such as the “Giya sa Ka-ugma-un sa Kabatan-unan” (“GKK”) and “Paglimpyu Ku, Kahimsug Mu” (“PaKuKaMu”) and champions lifelong learning in communication, mass media, language, culture, and gender studies. Her personal international travels  have afforded her intercultural immersions  and many life lessons, which she shares with her children, students, and friends, finding them useful for their improvement and wellbeing, and seeing  them relevant  in her culture studies, thus contributing insights for the Filipino people in particular, and to  the  country in general.
