Jay Bryan La-ag

Jay Bryan La-ag is an adjunct instructor in literature and creative writing at the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies, College of Culture, Arts, and Sports. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in English Literature (2019) and Master of Arts in Literature (2024) from Cebu Normal University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in English, major in Literature, at the University of San Jose–Recoletos Main Campus.

He was selected as a poetry fellow of the Tagik Landasan: Bathalad Creative Writing Workshop, organized by Bathalad Sugbo—one of the most respected literary organizations in the Visayas dedicated to promoting Cebuano literature and nurturing emerging voices. He is also a recipient of the Ernesto Lariosa Memorial Literary Award for Poetry, a prestigious recognition named after one of the most influential figures in contemporary Cebuano letters.

La-ag’s poems have been published in Bisaya Magazine—the country’s longest-running regional language literary magazine—as well as in SunStar Cebu, SunStar Davao, and Dagmay, the official literary journal of the Davao Writers Guild.
