April 7, 2025 marks another milestone for Cebu Normal University Balamban Campus as it subjected itself to the Level I evaluation of AACCUP (Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines) Accreditation for its three current programs – Bachelor of Elementary Education, Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management.

The online accreditation set its opening program via Zoom, introducing the AACCUP Team of evaluators and the CNUB Accreditation Task Force. The program was also graced by the University President, Dr. Daniel A. Ariaso Sr. who confidently and humbly shared the effort and compliance of the Campus. He further added the commitment of the University and the Campus to comply on whatever must be done should there be findings that need improvement, which also shows the dedication of CNU to really be of quality to its clientele.

The AACCUP Team is led BY DR. ANNALENE GRACE E. CO, AACCUP Coordinator from Quirino State University. The team is composed of the following:

The Campus will be evaluated in terms of 10 areas that cut across the core deliverables and functions of the University in instruction, research, extension, production, faculty and administration, laboratories, physical facilities, student support and library services. Further, a university’s submission to an AACCUP accreditation is one way of assuring a quality in all of these aspects while providing a framework for possible improvement. This in return also benefits the students through enhanced employability and recognition of their earned degrees since their institution is accredited.

The accreditation will last until Friday, April 11, 2025 as the accreditors evaluate submitted documents while conducting virtual tours, interviews and observations to validate such claimed evidences. This undertaking truly requires a collaborative effort from the CNU Team, from the Administration in the Main Campus and the different offices until the support and supervision of the Campus current and previous heads, Dr. Meshel B. Balijon, OIC Campus Director, Dr. Marchee T. Picardal, OIC Campus Dean together with the overall coordinator of the accreditation, Ms. Sarah Jane C. Trazo, the CNUB Quality Assurance Officer.

This will surely be a long process from the preparation until this week’s evaluation but with the right mix of passion, commitment, dedication, hardwork and encouragement, there’s no way for success to miss the picture. As the AACCUP Coordinator, Dr. Co said “Excellence is not being the best but doing our best”, CNU Team has done its part for now. This alone is not just a relief or commendation for a job well done but may also signal that the institution is truly on the right track which has always been its core.
