Cebu Normal University – Balamban Campus wrapped up its 3-day Research Capability Training Series: Smart and Ethical Research in the AI Era (Phase 1), held on June 9–11, 2025.
Through this training, faculty members explored the responsible integration of artificial intelligence in academic research.
With sessions led by esteemed experts, Dr. Jay P. Picardal of RITBPB and Dr. Marife Mustacisa-Lacaba of SSU Center for Lifelong Learning, participants were guided through AI ethics, rigorous methodology, and publication strategies.
From mastering the art of prompting to refining methodologies rooted in community impact, each day sparked meaningful reflection and actionable growth.
This initiative serves as one of the concrete steps toward meeting the campus’s research target of producing 21 published research papers, reinforcing CNU Balamban’s commitment to scholarly excellence and responsible innovation.
The training also guided the faculty in understanding when and where AI can be responsibly used in research, highlighting its role as a complement to human insight rather than a substitute for it.
The success of this training series reflects the shared vision and collaborative efforts within the campus through the leadership of Campus Dean Dr. Marchee Picardal and Campus Director Dr. Meshel Balijon.
