Dr. Jo Ann M. Petancio

Dr. Jo Ann M. Petancio earned her Bachelor of Secondary Education major in mathematics, magna cum laude, in 2005, a Master of Arts in Education major in mathematics in 2017, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education major in Research and Evaluation in 2022, all from Cebu Normal University. She placed second in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (Secondary Level) in 2005. She was a recipient of the Philippine Statistical Research and Training Institute (PSRTI) Dissertation Grant in 2022. 

She has ten years of experience teaching mathematics in basic education. She taught grade school mathematics at Saint Theresa’s College (STC) of Cebu in 2006-2007, high school mathematics at Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-ADC) in 2007-2012, and Jugan National High School (JNHS) from 2013-2017. In addition, she served as a mathematics competition coach and trainer, as well as a mathematics club moderator, at these schools. She also served as Chairperson of the Mathematics Department in JNHS.

In June 2017, she began working as a mathematics teaching internship mentor at Cebu Normal University’s College of Teacher Education-Integrated Laboratory School. She was the Teaching Internship Chair from 2021 to 2023 and is now the Assistant Supervisor for Teaching Internship. She is also a guest lecturer in the Graduate School of the College of Teacher Education. She has published research articles in peer-reviewed and international journals, both independently and with coauthors. Her research interests include math education, teacher education, instrumentation, and teaching internship.
