LOOK | 2025 LET topnotcher honors teachers who shaped his journey
For Jed Vincent Abadia, the first placer of the September 2025 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) for the secondary level, success is inseparable from the teachers who guided him from his earliest years in school.
Abadia paid a courtesy call on his alma maters and the Cebu City Local Government Unit (LGU) during a “motorcade of success” initiated by Cebu Normal University (CNU) on January 6, highlighting the educators and schools that helped mold him into a topnotcher.
A resident of Barangay Poblacion Pardo, Abadia visited Cebu City Mayor Engr. Nestor Archival and returned to Pardo Extension Elementary School and Pardo National High School, where he completed his basic and secondary education, respectively.
During the visit at Cebu City Hall, Mayor Archival congratulated Abadia and shared the city’s standing ordinance granting cash incentives to Cebu City residents who top duly recognized licensure examinations.
“Happy kaayo ko sa nahitabo,” Mayor Archival said, expressing pride in Abadia’s achievement.
The motorcade then proceeded to Pardo Extension Elementary School, where Abadia was warmly welcomed by students, his former teachers and advisers—many of whom, he said, were instrumental in shaping his character and love for learning.
Arlene Gamara, Abadia’s Grade VI adviser, recalled him as “very active in school and extra-curricular activities with utmost discipline,” adding that his achievement came as no surprise. “No doubt, Sir Jed deserves the achievement,” she said.
In his inspirational message, Abadia credited his teachers for nurturing him not only academically but also personally, emphasizing that their guidance went beyond lessons inside the classroom.
“This school is very special in my heart because I studied here for six years,” Abadia shared. “This is where I did not only learn how to read and write, but how to love life in school.”
He stressed that his teachers made him feel seen and supported, never singled out, but always encouraged to grow.
He highlighted the important role of teachers in working closely with young minds, giving them the space and avenues needed to express themselves and develop.
“The teachers contributed to me holistically. To build confidence in students, catch them in what they do good. Here, care does not stop when applause ends,” he said.
CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso Sr. echoed the vital role of teachers in shaping future educators as he addressed the young learners, urging them to be inspired by Abadia’s journey and to cultivate discipline early on.
“Motivation alone is not enough; one has to be disciplined,” Ariaso said, encouraging the pupils to consider CNU for their higher education.
“I hope pag college ninyo, pilion ninyo ang Cebu Normal University. Kay sa CNU, normal maging Top 1,” he added, noting that the university supports excellence through enhanced incentives for student achievers.
Congratulations, sir Jed!
