Cebu Normal University (CNU) officially kicked off its week-long Intramural Games 2026 at the Centennial Grounds this morning, giving students a chance to recharge, connect, and showcase their athletic skills beyond the classroom.
Led by SUC President Dr. Laurence Garcia, the opening ceremony brought together students from the university’s various colleges and the CNU–Balamban Campus.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Garcia emphasized that the Intramural Games celebrate unity and strengthen the sense of community among CNU students.
Highlighting the university’s student-centered approach, he underscored the importance of sports and outdoor activities in promoting holistic student development.

“No matter how challenging the weather may be, no matter how difficult the situation of the university, this is an important part of student development because education does not happen only inside the classroom,” he said.
“In the midst of the academic demands, examinations, research, deadlines, and the pressure of preparing for our future, we must never forget to enjoy the journey,” he added.

The opening ceremony was graced by Cebu Provincial Governor Pamela Baricuatro, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, and Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Franklyn Ong, an ex-officio member of the Cebu City Council.
Also in attendance was Jasper Nuñez, representative of Department of Education Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, who champions the grassroots sports development initiative known as “Alagang Angara Sports.”
Padayon, CNU!
