Cebu Normal University (CNU) President Dr. Laurence Garcia placed second among State Universities and Colleges (SUC) presidents in the Philippines with the most Scopus-indexed research publications and citations in 2026.

The recognition was based on the recent list of the Global Health Focus (GHF) University Excellence, an international academic initiative that seeks to transform higher education institutions (HEIs) into research-intensive hubs.

In its list, “Top 10 SUC Presidents of the Philippines who are Scopus Producers and Researchers,” released on August 13, Dr. Garcia ranked second with 19 Scopus-indexed publications and 153 H-index citations in 2026.

Before assuming the presidency, Dr. Garcia served as a faculty member of CNU’s College of Nursing, where he held the academic rank of Professor VI.

The recognition highlights CNU’s continued commitment to advancing research, fostering innovation, and promoting academic excellence.
