Cebu Normal University (CNU) strengthened its capacity for ethical research through the Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET), which equipped faculty researchers and members of its Ethics Review Committee (ERC) with foundational knowledge of research ethics, protocol review, and human participant protection.
The training was led by the CNU-ERC under Dr. Jezyl Cutamora in collaboration with the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) and the Central Visayas Consortium for Health Research and Development (CVCHRD).
The training aimed to help participants conduct and review research in accordance with ethical standards, protecting research participants’ rights and welfare while upholding the integrity of research findings.
The initiative also supports CNU’s pursuit of PHREB accreditation, which would strengthen the university’s institutional capacity for ethical research review.
The CNU-ERC recognized resource persons Dr. Donaldo and Dr. Pilongo, along with the DOST-CVCHRD facilitators, for sharing their expertise during the training.
