As part of its efforts to strengthen faculty members’ digital competencies, Cebu Normal University (CNU) conducts a three-day training on digital technologies, focusing on the use of current artificial intelligence (AI) tools, at the ground floor of the College of Teacher Education.

Titled “Innovative Research in the Digital Age: Harnessing AI-Powered Tools for Research and Extension,” the training aims to equip attendees with the knowledge to utilize different applications beneficial to research and extension projects.
Organized by the Institute for Research in Innovative Instructional Delivery (IRIID), the training covers the utilization and strategic use of VOSviewer, SciMAT, Orange Data Mining, and generative artificial intelligence tools.
In her opening remarks, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Auxiliary Services Dr. Angeline Pogoy acknowledged the significance of various tools and how their utilization in the academe is reshaping research.
“These innovations offer us new opportunities to discover research gaps, analyze data, generate insights, and develop research that responds to the needs of our university and society,” she said.
Noting certain limitations in the use of artificial intelligence, Dr. Pogoy also called on faculty members to exercise diligence in using these tools and ensure research integrity.
“As researchers and educators, let us remember that technology may strengthen our capabilities, but it is our curiosity that drives discovery, our integrity that gives research credibility, and our commitment that transforms knowledge into service,” she added.
Today’s training kickoff features Dr. Jovito C. Anito Jr. and Arnold Nikko Balladares as speaker-trainers.
