To commemorate the 124th founding anniversary of Cebu Normal University (CNU) – Main Campus, a series of activities officially open this morning at the Idea and Knowledge Center (IKC).

The opening celebration is ahead of its official founding anniversary on June 27.
Attended by administrative officials and staff, faculty members, students, and guests, the event centered on the celebration of community and the vow of renewal and recovery.
SUC President III Dr. Laurence Garcia, in his opening remarks, shared that the university “stood as a symbol of resilience, excellence, and unwavering service to the Filipino people.”
This as the university produced “countless educators, leaders, professionals, and public servants” across more than a century.
Recognizing the collective effort of the CNU community, Dr. Garcia lauded them, saying that the celebration is a result of countless acts of dedication and cooperation from every member of the university.
“When a community is united by a shared purpose, progress becomes possible and transformation becomes real,” he said.
He likewise urged the CNU community to actively participate in the activities and future engagements undertaken by the university.
“Let us support one another, celebrate our achievements, showcase our talents, and strengthen the sense of belonging that makes our university special,” he said.
Moreover, Dr. Angeline Pogoy, the overall chairman of the celebration, underscored the importance of heritage by paying tribute to the people who have worked and contributed to CNU.
“We pay tribute to our pioneers, leaders, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and partners whose dedication and sacrifices established a strong foundation for excellence, service, and transformation,” she said.
Dr. Pogoy likewise emphasized the value of community, saying that “CNU’s greatest strength lies in a common purpose.”
A Eucharistic celebration was also held, presided over by Rev. Fr. Mhar Vincent Balili, followed by the Sinulog unity dance led by the CNU Kudyapi.
Dr. Garcia also led the ceremonial raising of the CNU banner, and the singing of CNU hymn, followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the art exhibits at the Administrative Building.
Today’s kick-off celebration also features free government services from partner agencies that are open to the public.
Padayon, CNU!
