Building on the successful launch of Project SHIP, Cebu Normal University (CNU) strengthened its international collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) through the Global Connect: Lecture Series on August 15, 2025, as part of the university’s ASEAN Month celebration.
Led by the Office for International Affairs and Services (OIAS) under the theme “Global Citizens, ASEAN Roots,” the virtual lecture featured Dr. Montegrico, who discussed “HIV in the ASEAN Context: Focus on the Philippine HIV Landscape—Trends, Contributing Factors, and Recommendations.”

The lecture provided a platform for international knowledge exchange, highlighting the importance of cross-border academic collaboration in deepening understanding of public health issues in the ASEAN region.
Held in line with Proclamation No. 282, s. 2017, declaring August as ASEAN Month, the lecture reaffirmed CNU’s commitment to regional cooperation and global citizenship. As one of the flagship programs of the Office for International Affairs and Services (OIAS), Global Connect advances the University’s internationalization-at-home initiatives by connecting the CNU community with international experts, fostering cross-cultural knowledge exchange, and facilitating discussions on shared regional and global concerns.
