The Founding Dean of CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine

Dr. Ma. Socorro G. Manaloto holds the academic rank of Associate Professor V and serves as the founding and current Dean of the Cebu Normal University – Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center College of Medicine (CNU-VSMMC CM).

 

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Southwestern University (1980). She then obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from Southwestern University – Matias H. Aznar Memorial (SWU-MHAM) College of Medicine (1984).

Dr. Manaloto completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) at Cebu City Medical Center from 1988 to 1991. She successfully passed the Written Examination and Oral Examination for Diplomate status with the Philippine Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1993 and 1995, respectively. In 1997, she became a Fellow of the same society.

In her clinical experience, Dr. Manaloto was a Consultant in the Department of OB-GYN at AMOSUP – Seamen’s Hospital from 1998 to 2000. She was a Consultant and Training Officer in the Residency Training Program, Department of OB-GYN at Sacred Heart Hospital – Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) Consortium from 1997 to 2010. She served as Chief of Clinics at SWU-MHAM College of Medicine from 2002 to 2017, and as Medical Director of Total Health Diagnostics from 2011 to 2017. She is a Consultant in the Department of OB-GYN in the CCMC from 1997 until the present.

For her teaching and administrative roles, Dr. Manaloto served as Associate Dean of SWU-MHAM College of Medicine from 2013 to 2017, and as Dean from 2017 to 2019. She held the academic rank of Associate Professor from 1995 to 2019.

In 2019, she was hired as a Medical Specialist III (Job Order) at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, where she chaired the Technical Working Group for the creation of the CNU-VSMMC College of Medicine.

Additionally, she completed all academic requirements for a Master of Arts in Health Professions Education (MAHPED) from 2015-2017 at Xavier University, Ateneo de Cagayan.
