Profile of Regular Faculty

                 In terms of the education qualifications of these regular faculty, 67 percent of the faculty obtained their doctorate degree related to their area of specialization, 28 percent with doctorate units and some are finishing their academic requirements and their dissertations.

              In terms of academic ranks, the profile of the CCAS Faculty shows a greater proportion in the Associate Professorial level with 44 percent, followed with the Assistant Professor with 32 percent, Professor with 17 percent, and Instructor with 7 percent.  This data implies that they are more capable to perform the four-fold functions of the University in terms of instruction, research, extension, and publication and commercialization. Figure 5 shows the cluster distribution of their academic ranks.

           Among the seven (7) academic departments of the College, the Social Sciences department has the greatest number of professors, followed by the Filipino and International Languages Departments.  In terms of the Associate professors, the International Languages Department has the highest profile followed by the Kinesthetics, Social Sciences, and Filipino Departments.  The Communication and Media Studies and the International Languages Department show the greatest number of Assistant Professors followed by the Filipino and the Social Sciences departments respectively.  Only the Department of International Languages and the Humanities have Instructors classification. This data indicates that there is more to achieve among the CCAS Faculty to enhance their academic qualifications to become more relevant in teaching higher education. 

          In terms of the profile of the part-time faculty of the CCAS, 68 percent of them have taken up units in their master’s degree, 17 percent are finishing, and 15% have their masters completed and currently taking up their respective doctorate degrees.
