To strengthen the mental health advocacy in Central Visayas, the Cebu Normal University (CNU) Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) College of Medicine (COM) signed the Pledge of Commitment for ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing for All’ during the Central Visayas Mental Health and Substance Abuse Summit at the Summit Galleria on October 9-10, 2024.

 

Signed by the CNU VSMMC-COM Dean Dr. Ma. Socorro Manaloto, the declaration of commitment recognizes the paramount importance of mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention in the region.

 

As mental health is a prevalent issue, the parties acknowledge the need for community-based approaches, including the involvement of families, communities, and grassroots organizations in promoting and providing support to individuals with mental health conditions.

 

The signing of the declaration is joined by various government agencies, non-governmental organizations, mental health professionals, and other stakeholders across the Visayas region.
