Cebu Normal University students were among the participants of the first-ever Regional Volunteerism Exhibit (RVE).

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-7 through the Regional Search Committee (RSC) for the 2024 Search for Outstanding Volunteers and the RSC Technical Working Group on Volunteerism Exhibit held the RVE on September 27, 2024, at SM Seaside City Cebu in time for the 2024 Regional Development Council Week celebration.

The event was aimed to showcase the diverse and impactful volunteer initiatives in the region. There were ten volunteer exhibitors in the event, including the Philippine Red Cross-Cebu Chapter, Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 (DSWD), Parole and Probation Administration (PPA), Coastal Conservation and Education Foundation (CCEF), Global Initiative for Exchange and Development (GIED), Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Incorporation (RAFI), UP-Cebu Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, Department of Tourism, Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA), and Pangasinan State University Communiversidad.

Different school organizations and students from Central Visayas attended the exhibit. Members from the Internationalization Ambassadors Organization from CNU had the opportunity to explore the exhibits. The students also expressed their interest by signing up for the registration to become volunteers for future activities.

In the opening activity, NEDA Regional Director Jennifer Bretaña encouraged the audience to embrace volunteerism as “a way of life.”

“It is my hope that all of us will be able to reignite the spirit of volunteerism. Especially the youth, you can harness the power of social media,” the director encourages the students.
