Cebu Normal University-Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (CNU-VSMMC) College of Medicine (COM) is one step closer to securing the Commission on Higher Education’s Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC).
Â
CNU-VSMMC’s Doctor of Medicine Program underwent an evaluation on Friday, July 26, to ensure it meets the minimum standards prescribed by CHED’s policies, standards, and guidelines under CMO No. 18, series of 2016. Among the areas evaluated were administration, faculty, curriculum, physical facilities, and admission, among others.
Â
Dr. Mariae Khrisna Arreza, Officer-in-charge of CNU’s Quality Assurance, said that CHED only gave CNU-VSMMC a few recommendations to comply with on or before August 31, 2024, a testament of CNU-VSMMC’s “exceptional preparation, organization, and teamwork” through the leadership of COM Dean Dr. Ma. Socorro Manaloto.
Â
Once all requirements are complied with, the decision to grant CNU-VSMMC with COPC lies with the CHED En Banc.
CHED handed over the exit report to Dr. Allan Roy Elnar, CNU Vice President for Academic Affairs and Internationalization, after the evaluation.
Â
The CHED evaluators were Dr. Joselito Villaruz, chairperson of technical panel for Doctor of Medicine Program; Shiela Jalbuena, OIC-Supervising Education Program Specialist; and Dr. Jogi Rivamonte, Education Supervisor II.
Â
Also present during the activity were CNU President Dr. Daniel Ariaso, Sr., and Dr. Gerardo Aquino, Medical Center Chief of VSMMC.
